WOODBURY The three officials representing the state's Fifth Legislative District have opened an office here.
The North Broad Street office for Sen. Donald Norcross and Assemblymen Angel Fuentes and Gilbert "Whip" Wilson is in the new Gloucester County Courthouse Parking Facility.
Even though there is no sign yet over the door noting the presence of the legislative office, there have been several visits by members of the public, staffers for Norcross said Tuesday.
The legislators also have offices in Camden City Hall and in Brooklawn.
The Brooklawn office which formerly was the office for now retired Assembly Speaker Joseph Roberts will close sometime in May.
Norcross, Fuentes and Wilson are in the process of opening an office in the Audubon Shopping Center on the Black Horse Pike. When that office is ready, the Brooklawn facility will close.
Norcross noted the Audubon office will contain conference rooms and other staff meeting space that the Brooklawn facility cannot offer.
"We literally do not have enough space," Norcross said of the Brooklawn office. He noted that office was for Roberts' staff alone. The other previous Fifth District legislators had separate facilities whereas Norcross, Fuentes and Wilson are sharing space together.
Senate President Stephen Sweeney observed this is the first time that representatives from all three legislative districts that represent Gloucester County have offices within the county.
The Third Legislative District Sweeney and Assemblymen John Burzichelli and Celeste Riley have a local office in West Deptford Township. Fourth District Sen. Fred Madden and Assemblyman Paul Moriarty have an office in Washington Township. Assemblyman Domenick DiCicco also has an office in Washington Township.
DiCicco is the only Republican of the nine legislators representing portions of Gloucester County in Trenton.
